Short nature walks
In these short nature walks, you cover 4 – 5 Km in 3 hrs. The walking trails often pass through moist, evergreen, deciduous forests and grasslands and you can watch birds, butterflies, and some wildlife.
Mangaladevi Temple Trek
Experience the beauty of the Periyar wildlife sanctuary in this 12 Km trek to the ruined Mangaladevi temple in the midst of the jungle. It is recommended only for experienced trekkers.
Border Hiking.
A full day-long hard trek in the Thekkady jungle through undulating terrains is called Border Hiking. The trekking starts at 8 AM and ends in the evening. A maximum of 10 tourists in two different groups are taken through the jungle with two guides and an armed forest guard.
Prior permission from the wildlife authorities is needed for these treks. Kurisamala to Kumily and Kumily to Pandikuzhi are some of the most favorite trekking routes. The Forest Department organizes daily treks from the Thekkady Boating Point to the Nellikkampetty area and Manakkavala.
