Thekkady sightseeing is not complete without the Boat ride in the lake.
- Thekkady boats are operated by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (120 Passengers per ride) and Kerala Forest Department (60 Passengers per ride).
- Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary forest entry tickets are compulsory & separate tickets from the Boat ride tickets. Produce your entry tickets while purchasing the tickets for the boat ride as the entry tickets and boat ride tickets should match.
- The ticket counters open at 6:00 am but reach early as there will be a long queue for the tickets.
- Life Jacket is compulsory on the ride.
- Cameras are allowed but remember you have to maintain at least 40- 60 meters away from the animals.
- Tickets are not transferable & once confirmed will not be Cancelled / Refunded / Amended.
- If boat trips are canceled due to the mechanical breakdown, only the advance amount collected will be refunded. The seat arrangement of the next trip can be made only as per the free availability of seats.
- Tickets confirmed for a particular trip (Day and Trip time) is valued only for that particular day and trip.
- Keep your ticket handy till your exit from the sanctuary.
- Please obey the instruction from the forest departments and the boat crews, Violators will be prosecuted as per sanctuary rules.
- Report at the boat landing before 30 minutes of the scheduled time of departure of the boats.
